Cancer detection is worse in poor areas

Women living in deprived areas are more likely to have advanced breast cancer when they are diagnosed than those in affluent areas.

A study published in the British Medical Journal in June looked at over 12,000 women registered with breast cancer in the north of England. Lead researcher Jean Adams said: "It seems that more affluent women are being diagnosed earlier."
