Young disabled people

The employment chances of young disabled job seekers have been enhanced by a new employer subsidy. Employers can now claim a wage incentive of up to £2,275 if they take on a disabled 18-24 year old on the Work Choice programme.

The subsidy kicks in from 26 weeks (eight weeks for small employers) and the employment must be for at least 16 hours a week. The recruit must be participating in the government’s Youth Choice programme, which supports disabled people with complex needs to find and stay in employment.
