Protest over union-busting at National Express

Representatives from the Unite and RMT transport unions joined counterparts from the American Teamsters union in protest against union-busting by global transport operator National Express earlier this month.

US bus drivers have accused National Express, the second-biggest operator of school buses in the US, of “anti-worker, anti-union” policies. They say the firm is disciplining and sacking workers involved in union activities and is putting union activists under surveillance.

RMT and Unite reps joined those from the Teamsters, which represents transport workers across the US and Canada, in a protest outside the firm’s annual general meeting in London.

Union reps delivered a letter from Teamsters president James P Hoffa saying the firm “continues to violate the wishes of workers who wish to form a union and engage in collective bargaining”.
