Blacklisted Crossrail worker reinstated

Frank Morris, an electrician on London’s Crossrail project who said he was blacklisted for raising health and safety concerns, has been reinstated to his job.

Morris was dismissed in September 2012 and he believed the reason was because of trade union activity.

The Unite general union and the Crossrail consortium Bam Ferrovial Kier (BFK) said in a joint statement that matters had been “successfully concluded”.

The statement added: “BFK and Unite have agreed to work together to continue the provision of transparent working practices including safeguarding the right of workers to choose whether or not to join a trade union.”

The House of Commons Scottish Affairs select committee is continuing its investigation into allegations of blacklisting in the construction industry and will be calling further witnesses to explore the issue in due course.
