The GMB general union has successfully campaigned against smoking school chimneys at Bexhill Academy.

Their campaign has led to the Prospects academy chain agreeing to rebuild the problematic chimney stacks, which have been giving off smoke for over three years.

GMB organiser Rachel Verdin said rebuilding the chimney stacks “will ensure that the health and safety of everyone working and learning at the school is put first as staff and pupils have been suffering the effects of the bio-mass boiler emissions since the school opened in 2010”.
