Draft codes of practice

Three amended Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) on the provision and use of equipment, the safe use of power presses and the safe use of woodworking machinery have been published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The draft ACOP’s give advice on issues that apply to all three ACOP’s on young persons, temporary workers, migrant workers and further guidance on information, instruction, training and worker consultation. The amendments aim to remove out of date information and simplify the text, where it is appropriate, in line with Professor Löfstedt’s 2011 review of health and safety legislation, Reclaiming health and safety for all.

The HSE wants stakeholder’s views by 23 May.
