Variable pay awards

Individual awards vary at computer consultancy firm Capgemini Aspire and charity Age UK. Both funded performance-related pay rises this year with a 2% overall increase.

Rises at Age UK, effective from April, ranged from zero to 3.5%. Salaries currently on offer at the charity include a database protocols and training specialist at £28,000-£31,000 and shop assistant jobs at £6.31 an hour.

At Capgemini, 85% of members received a pay rise in January, with 5% receiving a one-off award. For those below, around or above the median, the minimum increase for those getting a rise was £800. A further 2% to 3% was available for bonus payments.
