Huge rise at DHL

The Ver.di union and the transport logistics company DHL have agreed a major pay increase for the 3,500 employees employed at the company’s hub in Leipzig.

The agreement runs for 24 months from 1 October 2014, and on 1 December this year employees will get a 4.7% rise, followed by a 4.3% rise in December 2015.

Even taking into account the two months delay before the increase is paid, this is well above inflation, which was rising by 0.8% in September.

The settlement comes after a brief stoppage by the workforce on 1 October, which was described by Ver.di’s deputy chair Andrea Kocsis as “a gigantic success”.
