Police staff in England and Wales get 2.2%

After rejecting a 1% pay offer and planning strike action, police staff in England and Wales have now secured a deal which pays 2.2% or £400 whichever is the greater.

The deal increases the lowest points on the scale by £400, worth 2.68% at the lowest point, and 2.2% on all other points from 1 March 2015; the standby allowance is also increased by 2.2%.

The police staff agreement covers 999 call handlers, scene of crime officers, police community support officers and custody officers. The deal was accepted all three unions involved: UNISON, Unite and the GMB.

UNISON national officer Ben Priestley said the union is “rightly proud of our police staff members’ resolve. When we stand together for what we believe in, we can achieve results”.
