Firefighters in Scotland reject pay offer

As recommended by the FBU’s executive council and Scottish regional committee, firefighters and control staff in Scotland have rejected a pay offer that would have led to them taking on significant areas of health and social care work.

FBU general secretary Matt Wrack said it was not the time to walk away from negotiations, but firefighters are emergency responders, not a substitute for social care staff, and the offer was “a step too far in that direction”.
