Dutch union sets pay target

FNV, the largest union grouping in the Netherlands, has set a pay target of 14.3% for its negotiators in 2023. This is in line with current inflation, which was also 14.3% in October.

Commenting on the demand, FNV vice-chairman Zakaria Boufangacha said: “The wages of our members must retain their value. People are working harder, prices have increased a lot.”

There is a long way to go. The latest official figures on collective bargaining show pay increasing by 3.5% in October.
