Bargaining news

Night workers

There is “no evidence of a ‘pay premium’ for people working overnight”, TUC research published at the end of October found, “despite the heightened health risks that come with night work and the disruption it causes to workers’ lives”. Three in 10 night workers (28%) were found to be earning less than £10 per hour, while seven in 10 (69%) earned less than £15. Care workers account for the largest number of night workers but many are low-paid and on zero-hours contracts.
