Mid-point 5.0%

Construction had the highest overall settlement level, with a mid-point of 5.0%. When numbers covered are taken into account, the figure is even higher at 8.9%, the value of the Building & Civil Engineering settlement in July. Ten of the sector's 15 settlements were long-term deals, and several of them are due to run for three years.

New long-term deals included the Engineering Construction (NAECI) agreement in April, worth 10.4% in the first year. They also included Environmental Engineering with a 5.0% January rise, and Electrical Contracting (Scotland) with 4.45% on the lowest basic rate (average 4.41%), also from January.

One-year agreements in the sector included Felt Roofing on 5.0% from January, and Building and Allied Trades (June) where the adult general operative rate increased by 4.24% to £220.35 per week. At company level, Carillon Rail increased salaries by 3.2% from April.
