RNIB offers IT guidance to employers

The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) has published practical guidance for employers explaining how information technology (IT) can help meet the needs of employees and job applicants with sight problems.

See to IT at work explores the range of technologies that blind and partially sighted people use to do their jobs, and explains how to test IT systems' accessibility. It covers recruitment and selection, computers in the workplace, technical support services, training and development, and IT policies and procurement.

There are also details of the government's Access to Work scheme, which offers subsidies to help disabled workers and their employers meet extra costs that may be a barrier to employment.

See to IT at work is available in print and on CD, price £9.95, from the RNIB - call 0845 702 3153.
